Ani, the heroine of "Goose Girl", is a princess of Kildenree. She is not a normal princess and not suited for her position in life. She is shy and would rather talk to geese than other people. She does not get along with her mother, who wishes she were more outgoing. When the queen learns that her aunt has been teaching Ani, to talk with animals, she sends her aunt away, which is sad for Ani. After her father the king dies, her mother explains her plans for Ani. For the good of the kingdom she will be sent away and won't become queen. This breaks Ani's heart, but her mother doesn't care, it is Ani's duty to her country. When the journey doesn't go as planned and it looks as bad as it can get, Ani overcomes her timidness and ultimately triumphs over her enemies. In this book quiet Ani finds the courage she always had and grows into a woman powerful enough to be queen.

WHY I LOVE THIS BOOK: Because it is an adventure about a character who I can relate to! She's not sure what to do in hard situations, but she is smart and figures things out. She seems like a normal girl. When I read it, I could imagine myself in her shoes.
